A Perfumer's Tropical Delight: The Fragrant Plants of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, Miami

A few years ago an employee of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Miami sent me a database of the fragrant plants that grow there. I lost the file on my hard drive, and was unsuccessful in obtaining another copy. This morning I stumbled across the file, and was so happy! I want to share the Excel.xls file with everyone. The Excel.xls file can be printed out before a visit to Fairchild, and the numbered sections correspond with a site map they have at the garden, so you can find your way to the plants you wish to enjoy.

The Excel.xls file can be downloaded from the Natural Perfumery Institute website, on the Faculty page in the left column under my photo. I hope this brings many hours of scented delight to aromatherapy and perfume lovers who visit Fairchild!

The ylang ylang trees at Fairchild are huge! They can be up to 40' tall. These green flowers slowly ripen over days to a deep yellow with a red throat. That will be when their scent is at its best. The photo of ylang ylang flowers is from my garden, but you'll find many of these trees at Fairchild

Anya Darlin FB friend, I am interested in buying any white tropical scents you create! Please let me know? I lived in Hawaii 10 plus years, and so miss those scents!

There is also a ylang ylang tree, a champaca, and a few plumerias at the Miami Beach Botanic Gardens too.
